Lawnbot: Remote Controlled Lawn Mower

With temperatures rising well past 100 degrees, the thought of pushing a lawn mower in the summer is overwhelming. We wanted to create an easier and cleaner alternative to the conventional lawn mower. In this project an autonomous lawn mower was developed using micro-electronics and micro-sensors. This system can mow the grass of your garden by remote control while being powered with the clean energy from the sun. The Autonomous Lawn Mower – Lawnbot – consist of: (i) conventional lawn mower, (ii) two motors with wheels, (iii) an arduino microcontroller, (iv) a motor shield, (v) Xbee communication system, and (iv) remote controller that utilizes a joystick, Xbee communication system and an arduino microcontroller.

The lawn mowers batteries are able to be recharged by a solar panel located on top. The solar panel helps replace the large amount of emissions from gas powered mowers with a clean, natural source of power. The lawnbot will replace the painstaking labor of mowing with the joy of playing with R/C car of your childhood and making it fun.
